Neurosurgeons at the Munich CyberKnife Centre
ECZM provides outpatient treatment only and is pleased to arrange hotel accommodation and transfers for international patients.
Most conditions are treated in a single ‘fraction', i.e. a single treatment session of up to 90 minutes duration, though more complex cases are treated over a few consecutive days.
The European CyberKnife Centre (ECZM) opened in 2005 as a purpose built, state-of-the-art, private medical facility. The neurosurgeons were already very experienced with radiosurgery for brain tumours and ECZM rapidly became noted for its work with brain and spinal tumours.
MHL has been working with ECZM since early in 2006 and through our close working relationship we are still able to introduce international patients with brain, eye, spine and lung tumours, cancerous or otherwise, as well as patients requiring neurosurgical interventions such as AVM or trigeminal neuralgia.
ECZM offers fixed cost treatments, so we can usually give a very reliable estimate and full medical facilites are available at the adjacent to the University Hospital if required.
Acoustic neuroma is just one area where ECZM has great experience. The surgeons have now treated over 500 acoustic neuroma patients with CyberKnife, having previously treated over 400 patients with GammaKnife.
Due to pressure of demand, although the full range of CyberKnife treatments is offered to local patients, they have restricted the types of referrals from outside Germany in order to maintain excellence of service.
What types of cases can be referred to ECZM?
ECZM also pioneered new eye treatments with CyberKnife that can save removal of the eye to treat uveal melanoma.
Treatment at the European CyberKnife Centre utilises a team approach, where medical experts collaborate with you as their central focus. Team members may include your surgeon, radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, physicist, and other team members within the hospital.
In most cases treatment can be arranged through our introduction service and examination of scans, without the need to attend in Munich for prior consultation.
Patients say .....
I tolerated the outpatient treatment of my brain AVM very well and went home by public transport immediately after treatment.
CyberKnife treatment of my acoustic neuroma enabled me to continue my hobby cycling shortly after treatment.
Iden Jakob, Munich, 14 March, 2006
As an entrepreneur with companies in Germany and abroad I could resume to work immediately after CyberKnife treatment.
Ute Huber, Munich, 21 May, 2008
The procedure was completely pain free and I was driving back home to Austria directly after treatment. I am glad I could avoid brain surgery.
Johannes Wabnig, Austria, 11 December, 2007
I did not experience any kind of adverse effects during the last twelve months after CyberKnife treatment. There is no need to be afraid of the CyberKnife procedure.
All doctors I visited refused treatment in my case. I was encouraged by the physicians of the CyberKnife Centre to undergo a radiosurgical treatment.
My symptoms with strong headache, concentration problems and ticks of my legs subsided as soon as three months after treatment. I am very satisfied with the decision to do CyberKnife treatment.
The suspected chaos in my companies did not occur and I was resilient directly after the radiosurgical treatment.
Siegfried Dannhorn, Berlin, 02 April, 2008
